GURUGRAM: Union home minister Rajnath Singh will be the chief guest at the national rollout of Student Police Cadet programme from Tau Devi Lal stadium, in the presence of CM Manohar Lal Khattar, on December 24. The programme is aimed at enrolling students in activities that will inculcate respect for law and community skills, while providing them with physical fitness training.
The project was launched in Gurgaon in October 2015 for students of classes 8 and 9. Initially, there were only 264 students but now, there are over 2,200 students from 50 schools. On Tuesday, a meet of district and police officials was held to discuss arrangements. Police commissioner Sandeep Khirwar has formed six teams to work on decorations at the venue, distribute invitations, make seating plans and select cultural activities to be showcased.
