Highlights

13:51(IST)

10 runs from the Gamage over here as Rohit under-edges a pull to the third-man boundary while Kohli brings out his typical ODI whip off the toes as the ball races to the mid-wicket boundary. India's score reads 155/4 after 37 overs with the lead sitting on 318 runs.

13:42(IST)

WICKET!  Dhawan has to go for 67 as Sandakan has the last laugh, stumped by Dickwella. One shot too many here as the hosts are looking to play positively after Sri Lanka folded up for 373 in their first innings, handing India a lead of 163 runs. India's score reads 144/4 as the lead now reads 307

13:39(IST)

12 runs from the Dhananjaya over as Dhawan looks like he has hit overdrive mode here ever since Pujara went back to the dressing room and Kohli joined him. It will be interesting to know what exactly Kohli told him after coming in. Hits a classy drive coming down the ground and then sweeps him. India's score reads 143/3 after 35 overs with the lead sitting pretty on 306

13:33(IST)

FIFTY number 5 for Shikhar Dhawan!!! He has shifted gears beautifully after Kohli came into the middle and the skipper eggs him on as he raises his bat after scoring his 50. India's score reads 133/3. Dhawan and Kohli mean business here it seems. Sandakan at the receiving end here.

13:30(IST)

4 runs now from the Dhananjaya over as the Indians are looking to up the ante and get the scoreboard moving as it looks like the Indians are looking at declaring at the tea break if they can manage a good tempo. India's score reads 122/3 after 33 overs with Dhawan batting on 49.

13:26(IST)

The crowd has come alive as Dhawan is suddenly dealing only in boundaries and doubles here. Looks like Kohli has asked him to enjoy himself on his birthday and express himself in the middle. The Kotla crowd is on its feet as Dhawan drives, cuts and flicks. India's score reads 118/3 after 32 overs with a lead of 281 runs

13:20(IST)

WICKET!!!  Pujara has to go as the straighter one goes straight to Angelo Mathews at first slip. Dhananjaya is ecstatic as Pujara goes for 49 as India lose their third. India's score reads 106/3 with Dhawan batting on 35 and a lead of 269 runs. Virat Kohli is in next and the crowd is excited.

13:11(IST)

3 runs from the Lakmal over here as the umpires call for drinks on the fourth afternoon at the Kotla. The haze has diminished somewhat, but the Lankan players are still happy to wear masks on the field. India's score reads 102/2 with Pujara on 45 and Dhawan on 35 as the lead sits on 265 with 8 wickets in the bag

13:05(IST)

5 runs from the Dhananjaya over here as the Indian batsmen are looking to make a move here. But Lanka skipper Dinesh Chandimal has spread the field out in the best possible way to cut down the scoring rate. India's score reads 99/2 with Pujara on 44 and Dhawan on 33

13:01(IST)

1 run from the Lakmal over, but you can now start to see that Dhawan too is looking to take the attack to the Lankan bowlers here. The ball is landing in the hand of the fielders but the effort is there. India's score reads 94/2 as the commentators feel that India should declare at the tea break and go for the kill.

12:56(IST)

8 runs from the Dilruwan over here as India's lead goes past the 250-run mark as also Dhawan hits a little boundary to the back of point to register 8000 first-class runs. That too on his 32nd birthday. India's score reads 93/2 after 27 overs

12:52(IST)

Lakmal into the attack for the first time after the lunch break and he bowls a tight line as the Indians manage to score just 1 run here. India's score reads 85/2 with Pujara batting on 38 and Dhawan batting on 25. The lead reads 248 runs with 8 wickets in the bag

12:47(IST)

3 runs from the Dilruwan over as the Lankans go for a review to a ball that hit the pad. That one was not turning back enough to hit the stumps and the third umpire goes with the on-field umpire as Pujara survives. India's score reads 84/2 after 25 overs

12:41(IST)

Dhananjaya into the attack and 6 runs from the over as Pujara welcomes him to the crease by stepping down the track and driving him past the extra cover fielder. Just a couple of singles after that as Pujara has clearly looked the more fluent of the two as the score reads 81/2

12:38(IST)

3 runs from the Gamage over as Pujara is again looking to play his shots. Even though Pujara has not got the boundary in this over, he has shown intent, in stark contrast to the generally more attacking Dhawan. India's score reads 75/2 after 23 overs.

12:32(IST)

9 runs from the Dilruwan over here as Pujara starts off with a beautiful drive jumping down the track. Pujara has looked mighty impressive against the spinners and Dhawan is rather on the slower side. India's score reads 72/2 with the lead reading 235 runs with 8 wickets in the bag

12:28(IST)

Just a no-ball from the Gamage over as the Indian batsmen are finding it difficult to pierce the field here. The field is well spread for both Dhawan and Pujara by Dinesh Chandimal. India's score reads 63/2 after 21 overs with Dhawan batting on 20 and Pujara on 23

12:25(IST)

2 runs from the Dilruwan over here as the Indian batsmen have shown signs of attacking the bowlers, but the wicket is not the easiest of wickets to score runs on. Not getting any easier and the Lankans will have their task cut-out. India's score reads62/2 after 20 overs

12:21(IST)

5 runs from the Gamage over here as Pujara picks up a boundary. Dhawan too shows signs of aggression as he pulls one from the pacer, but the field is well spread out and just a single for the batsman. India's score reads 60/2 after 19 overs with the lead sitting at 223

12:16(IST)

4 runs from the first over after the lunch break as Dilruwan is looking to keep a positive line. Dhawan and Pujara do not give away any intent of attacking the bowlers just as yet. India's score reads 55/2 after 18 overs with the lead sitting pretty on 218 with 8 wickets in the bag.

11:30(IST)

LUNCH here as the Indians sit pretty on 51/2. Dhawan and Pujara have looked good even though Pujara has been surprisingly more aggressive in his approach as compared to Dhawan. The left-hander has looked pretty pleased to play second fiddle here. The Indians will definitely come out all guns blazing in the second session here as they look to bat Lanka out of the game.

11:26(IST)

13 runs from the Dilruwan over as Pujara picks up 2 boundaries after Dhawan pics a single to take India's lead to 200. This looks like the Indians will go for the kill in the post-lunch session here with 5 minutes to go for the lunch break. India's score reads 45/2

11:21(IST)

2 runs from the Lakmal over as Pujara hits a classy backfoot punch past the point fielder to pick a couple of runs. But Lakmal comes back strongly and beats the edge of Pujara's bat off the very next ball. Pujara was waiting for that one to come in. India's score reads 32/2 after 15 overs. 10 minutes to go for lunch

11:15(IST)

WICKET!!! Looking to hit Dilruwan out of the ground, Rahane finds the fielder in the deep and has to go for 10. Sandakan takes a good catch as Rahane has to go. Not the ideal start to the second innings for the Indians as the score reads 29/2. Pujara is now in the middle.

11:11(IST)

Maiden over from Lakmal as Rahane happily plays out the over with a few crisp drives and a few missed punches. Rahane is still to hit the zone completely, but he is looking a lot better for sure. India's score reads 28/1 with a lead of 191. One can expect the Indians to fire in all cylinders after the lunch break which is 20 minutes away now

11:06(IST)

2 runs from the Dilruwan over here as both Dhawan and Rahane pick a single each. Rahane's footwork has been impressive to say the least. He has happily come down the track time and again against the spinner and looked to meet the ball on the full. India's score reads 28/1 after 12 overs

11:03(IST)

1 run from the Lakmal over as the bowler has bowled a nice line, but the pace seems slightly on the lower side and this will improve as he keeps going. The Indians look like they are playing for lunch here as 27 minutes are left here as India's score reads 26/1 after 11 overs

10:57(IST)

1 run from the Gamage over as Rahane's footwork is improving and that is a positive sign as the India batsman needs to hit form with the South Africa tour round the corner. India's score reads 25/1 after 10 overs as the hosts lead by 188 runs with 9 wickets in the bag.

10:50(IST)

Another shave for Rahane as the Lankan players go up after the on-field umpires says NOT OUT as the ball from Dilruwan hits him on the pad. But it stays at umpire's call and Rahane shall live to bat again. India's score reads 24/1 after 9 overs as Rahane is starting to look more confident in the middle with every passing over.

10:46(IST)

1 run from the Gamage over as Dhawan picks a single. A couple of good shots from Rahane but straight to the fielder. But these will definitely improve his confidence as he strikes the ball well in the middle. India's score reads 19/1 after 8 overs

10:43(IST)

Dilruwan comes in to bowl as Lakmal had to walk out. Ajinkya Rahane meanwhile happily comes down the track and hits the spinner for a boundary to release some pressure. India's score reads 18/1 after 7 overs with the lead reading at 181 with 9 wickets in the bag.

Cricket Live Score, Ind vs SL 2017, 3rd Test, Day 4 in Delhi: Kohli Takes Over After Dhawan Bites Dust

Virat Kohli in action. (AP)

LATEST UPDATES: Kohli looks like he has taken over from where Dhawan has left as he brings out the ODI shots. The hosts are looking to play positively after Sri Lanka folded up for 373 in their first innings, handing India a lead of 163 runs. Virat Kohli had won the toss and decided to bat.

PREVIEW IND vs SL, DAY 4: The smog cleared up on Monday and so did the minds of the Sri Lankan batsmen as they showed application for the first time in the series with skipper Dinesh Chandimal and former captain Angelo Mathews holding fort to help the visitors cut out a respectable figure on the third day of the third Test at the Ferozeshah Kotla. Yes, there were dropped catches to aid both the batsmen, but then, what matters is the end result and the scoreboard will read Chandimal finished unbeaten on 147 and Mathews hit a brave 111. At stumps, Sri Lanka were 356/9 with Chandimal and Lakshan Sandakan (0 off 7 balls) at the crease, still trailing the hosts by 180 runs. Bad light ended play 5 overs in advance and the Indians will have to come back on Tuesday and pick the lone Lankan wicket before they can take strike again. While the Indian bowlers gave it their all, the same cannot be said about the fielders who kept dropping catches despite the ground fielding being top notch. If skipper Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan were to blame on the second day, it was the turn of Rohit Sharma and substitute Vijay Shankar to showcase butter-fingers on the third days. Wriddhiman Saha too missed a tough chance off Mathews, but he came up with a screamer to dismiss Sadeera Samarawickrama off Ishant Sharma just when he looked to be taking the game away from the Indians with Chandimal for company. Roshen Silva (0) and Niroshan Dickwella (0) did not help the team’s cause as Ashwin looked like he was suddenly bowling unplayable deliveries. It finally took Chandimal to ensure that the Lankans avoided the follow-on as he protected Lahiru Gamage as much as he could after Suranga Lakmal (5) was dismissed by Shami, again caught well by Saha behind the wicket. Earlier, the first two sessions saw the Lankans dominate with Mathews and Chandimal playing out the first session without giving anything away to the Indian bowlers. Not to forget that both Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma bowled their hearts out and were on the mark from the word go. In fact, even R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja looked good if not lethal, but the Lankans showed a sense of application that was missing on the first two Test matches. While Mathews grinded it out, Chandimal mixed caution with aggression and ensured that he kept frustrating the bowlers with timely boundaries. But the best part was the determination shown by Mathews although he was time and again being bothered by the short of a goodlength delivery from Shami and Ishant. Mathews doesn’t have the best of techniques, but then, he made up for it with determination and discipline as he refused to let go.
