Coimbatore: AIADMK men led by Coimbatore South MLA Amman K Arjunan took out a procession from the party's office on Huzur Road to Avinashi Road and garlanded the newly installed statue of late chief minister J Jayalalithaa. The cadres then observed a moment of silence as a tribute to her.

A number of partymen also paid floral tributes to a huge portrait of Jayalalithaa at the party office. Across the city, cadres had placed portraits of Jayalalithaa in street corners and vantage points for the partymen to pay tributes. Various trade unions affiliated to AIADMK had organized memorial day meetings in the city.

Most of the senior leaders including state local administration minister S P Velumani had left from Coimbatore for Chennai to participate in the silent march to Marina to pay tributes at Jayalalithaa memorial there.
