CHANDIGARH: Punjab Congress on Tuesday released two more lists of candidates for the forthcoming MC elections in the state, announcing 25 more names from Patiala and 79 from Jalandhar. Two sitting councilors have, meanwhile, been denied party ticket this time for revolting against the party in the past.
So far, the party has named candidates for 56 of the 60 wards in Patiala have been declared, leaving only four tickets pending in the region. The party had earlier announced 31 names from Patiala.
In Jalandhar, the party on Tuesday released the names of 79 candidates, leaving only one candidature pending. Two sitting members have been dropped in Jalandhar, said the spokesperson, identifying them as Dr. Pradeep and Baldev, both from Jalandhar West area. They have been dropped due to indiscipline, said a party spokesperson, adding that they had revolted against the party earlier and had even been suspended for gross misconduct.
