Jaipur: A sub-adult male leopard was found dead in Jhalana jungle on Tuesday. Wildlife officials suspect it fell from a cliff during a territorial fight.
According to a forest official, the body that was found near the Jawahar Nagar Bypass area was two days old. "Primia facia, it appears the leopard fell from a height of over 100 feet during a territorial fight. The face of the leopard was decomposed. The post-mortem will be conducted on Wednesday."
The matter came to light when team of Hope and Beyond, a wildlife NGO, noticed the leopard lying dead and informed the forest officials. Wildlife lovers believe, the recent human civil work in the core jungle area has disturbed the ecology and there is possibility that the leopard lost its life as it tried to avoid the route where construction work is going inside the jungle.
