PATNA: An NRI in Saudi Arabia is all set to launch a 'Super-30'-like initiative to coach another underprivileged 30 students from Bihar to crack IIT-JEE.

The entrance test to select the 30 meritorious aspirants will be held at 15 centres across the state on December 17.

Maths wizard and 'Super 30' founder Anand Kumar has agreed to help Obaidur Rahman open the coaching institute to be named 'Rahman's 30' which, like 'Super 30', will offer free coaching as well as lodging with food facility to the aspirants every year.

"We have been at work on this project for several months now... We have our own building opposite Patna University in which we'll have the classrooms and hostel," Rahman, who is the chairman of the Bihar Foundation of Saudi Arabia, told this reporter on Monday.

Rahman has budgeted Rs 40 lakh to Rs 50 lakh annually for the coaching institute at which 20 of the 30 seats will be reserved for minorities. "Around 400 students have already applied for the examination," Rahman said and added other students could register themselves by calling the institute on 8877405060 and 9570504030 or mailing to rahmans30.in@gmail.com.

Rahman said the institute would also prepare students for SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test), widely used for college admissions in the United States. "We will even finance the students for their studies, if need be," he said and added the institute would hire teachers on the recommendation of Anand, who would also give his services to the 'Rahman's 30'.

Anand nodded. "It's a noble initiative and I shall certainly do my bit for the success of the students of 'Rahman's 30'," he told this reporter.
