93: It doesn’t look like it’s going to happen folks. Roma have beaten Qarabag 1-0, so that means Atletico Madrid are now OUT and Chelsea will finish SECOND unless they can score in the remaining 60 seconds.

MANCHESTER UNITED 2-1 CSKA MOSCOW

FT: Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United survive a scare to finish top of their group and qualify for the Champions League knockout stages.

91: Can Batshuayi be the hero again? Nope. The Belgian holds it up magnificently, exchanges passes with Fabregas before curling a great effort a whisker wide!

FOUR MINUTES ADDED TIME

89: Danger! Atletico corner… cleared. Hazard reaches clear up the other end but his cross is too close to the keeper.

87: Chelsea escape. Griezmann can't get on the end of a low delivery from Correa. The goal was at his mercy.

84: What a miss! Hazard does incredibly well to reach the byline and serve it on a pate for Willian, who blazes it miles over. Awful finish.

83: Change for Chelsea as Alvaro Morata is replaced by Michy Batshuayi. Neither side look happy with a draw tonight, and rightly so. There’s defiantly another goal in this.

80: Gabi is replaced by Correa, and Vietto comes on for Gimenez. That should create more space for Eden Hazard on the break.

77: Nearly an instant second! After Savic turned Hazard's cross past Oblak for the equaliser, Morata is denied one-on-one by the keeper! Decent save but Morata should have done the business.

75: Could that be the goal that knocks Atletico Madrid OUT of the Champions League? You would have to think so. Eden Hazard collects a loose ball from a corner and drills it into the six-yard box, where Savic turns it into the roof of the net.

74: Chelsea make a change. Willian replaces Zappacosta with 73 minutes played.

73: So, apparently if Chelsea finish second they’ve got roughly a 66% chance of drawing PSG in the next round…

70: Oblak just won’t be beaten! Pedro tries an audacious back-flick from a Moses cross and the goalkeeper somehow keeps it out. He’s down injured now receiving treatment. Precious seconds ticking away…

67: You don’t get much closer without scoring. Fabregas plays it short before fizzing it into the box where Christensen heads wide. Should be 1-1.

MANCHESTER UNITED 2-1 CSKA MOSCOW - LUKAKU, RASHFORD

64: Don’t worry, you’re not reading the scoreline wrong. Manchester United have scored twice in three minutes to turn things around at Old Trafford. Romelu Lukaku poked home for the first, and Marcus Rashford added the second with a well-struck low shot.

60: Saul Niguez's goal was Atletico's first away from home in the Champions League in six and a half hours of football (390 minutes), since the Spaniard scored at Leicester in April.

57: Torres is replaced by Carrasco. The former Chelsea striker gets a standing ovation from the home supporters.

CHELSEA 0-1 ATLETICO MADRID - NIGUEZ

55: There’s the breakthrough! Atletico Madrid have taken the lead through Saul Niguez.

A corner is flicked into his path and Saul peels off the sleeping Bakayoko to nod home from point-blank range.

As it stands, Chelsea will qualify in second position.

54: Bad news for Atletico, and Chelsea actually. Roma have finally taken the lead against Qarabag. That means the Blues need to win to secure top spot.

54: Woodwork! Filipe Luis almost comes back to haunt his former club with a powerful drive that smashes against the post. Koke tried to nod the rebound home but Courtois recovered to gather. Finally a bit of urgency from the visitors!

53: It’s all Chelsea here. Atletico are pinned back inside their own half and can’t seem escape. Zappacosta is booked for a late tackle on Savic.

51: Hazard is something special. A devastating turn gets him away from Saul, and then he drifts past Savic, turns inside and sees his shot deflected over.

48: Griezmann is standing over a free-kick in dangerous shooting range… saved! Not a bad effort from the Frenchman, but not nearly special enough to beat Courtois from that range.

45: And we’re back underway folks. No changes for either side. You would expect Atletico to start throwing the kitchen sink at Chelsea - especially with Roma still not beating Qarabag!

ELSEWHERE IN EUROPE…

HT: As you can see, I’ve embedded a photo with tonight’s half-time scores folks. That’s mainly due to laziness, but also a handy quick-look feature for you boys and girls.

Bayern Munich beating PSG, and Manchester United trailing are the two major surprises. I imagine Barcelona will collect maximum points when Lionel Messi comes off the bench.

HT: We’re goalless at the break folks. Chelsea have shaded it in-terms of chances but neither side really looked like breaking the deadlock. It's also half time at Old Trafford, where Jose Mourinho's Manchester United trail CSKA Moscow.

MANCHESTER UNITED 0-1 CSKA MOSCOW - DZAGOEV

45: I don’t believe it! Manchester United trail at the break after Dzagoev deflects Vitinho’s stabbed effort past David de Gea.

It looks like Dzagoev is at least two-yards offside, but the goal stands in controversial fashion.

Manchester United have conceded more home goals in their four combined EFL Cup and Champions League games this season (2), than they have in their seven home Premier League games.

45: No booking?! Kante tip-toes his way past three players and Gabi hacks him down. Avoids the yellow card somehow!

44: Atletico have only scored four goals in the group stages. That’s only two better than Qarabag… Wouldn’t fancy their chances if they went a goal down tonight.

41: Jan Oblak with an outstanding save! Everyone’s expecting Zappacosta’s low drive to sneak in at the near post but the Atletico stopper claws it away.

39: It’s a very quiet night for goals in the Champions League folks. Only Bayern Munich (vs PSG), Basel (vs Benfica) and Juventus (vs Olympiakos) have managed to score.

36: A moment of excitement arrives as Bakayoko finds Hazard inside the six-yard box, but the winger’s snapshot is unusually poor.

Lucas is already in last chance saloon territory. He’s already on a yellow and clumsily kicks Morata in the back of the knee.

33: You know things reboring when Antonio Conte isn’t jumping around and shouting at his players. Nothing to get excited about really folks.

30: The Spaniard is really fired up tonight. He’s popping up everywhere and just let fly with his first touch to force a superb one-handed save from Oblak.

28: Seven attempts on goal from United, none have managed to beat Akinfeev thus far. CSKA have their first decent chance with Vitinho curling an effort high and wide. I use the word ‘decent’ loosely.

26: Should be 1-0. Victor Moses roasts his marker down the right and picks out Morata, whose sliding effort is gathered by Oblak.

23: Close! Morata almost silences Atletico fans with a fabulous turn and volley in the same motion. Oblak stood motionless and watched it whistle just past the post.

20: Impressive display of commitment from Atletico Madrid supporters, who have booed Alvaro Morata every single time he’s touched the ball.

Lucas is the first to be booked for bundling into Eden Hazard for the second time in three minutes.

MANCHESTER UNITED 0-0 CSKA MOSCOW

18: It’s still 0-0 over at Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho’s side will be wondering how they aren’t ahead with Marcus Rashford striking the woodwork twice!

15: No alarm bells for Antonio Conte’s side. Roma are still 0-0 with Qarabag, which means Chelsea are still on course to qualify as winners.

12: It’s been a pretty even contest thus far. Neither side have managed to get their foot on the ball and create anything solid.

9: Fabregas nearly has a sight of goal down the other end after an exquisite chest from Hazard, but a rare poor touch from the Spaniard lets the ball get away from him.

6: Torres on the turn! The striker capitalises on some confusion inside the Chelsea area but his deflected strike sails over the bar.

3: Early effort from Zappacosta. The full-back, who’s playing on the left tonight, cuts inside and sends an effort high and wide. I’ll be kind and say he’s just finding his range…

CELTIC vs ANDERLECHT

19:35: In the midst of domestic dominance, Celtic need to get some European victories under their belt.

Celtic stretched their unbeaten domestic run to 67 matches at the weekend but the victory in Belgium ended a 10-game run without a victory in the Champions League group stages.

The Parkhead side have only taken four points from their last nine home games in the Champions League proper and will be keen to take a confidence-boosting win into a likely Europa League campaign.

MANCHESTER UNITED vs CSKA MOSCOW

19:30: Jose Mourinho had his game face on in the pre-match press conference, suggesting there was everything to play for with neither qualification nor top spot in the group secured.

That is a mathematical concern rather than a realistic one though, with United's place in the next stage only vulnerable to an extreme and unlikely sequence of results and victory margins.

In fact, this should be seen as a chance to round out phase one in style and lay down a marker for Sunday's Manchester derby.

The Red Devils will need to be at their best to see off their rivals and this should represent an opportunity to tune up.

19:20: I think David Luiz would be the last Chelsea player I’d ask to cut my hair, but Eden Hazard knows better.

Hazard has revealed the Brazilian has picked up a new role at the club - becoming the resident barber at their Cobham training ground.

The Belgium international shared a photo of Luiz shaving him with a cut-throat razor on Instagram, along with the caption: “The new Cobham barber. You have to trust your family. Good job David Luiz but please my friends don’t try this at home.”

Good advice, Eden. Don’t let Luiz hold a cut-throat razor to your neck at home guys…

*Chelsea hold top spot with qualification certain regardless of their next result. Roma loom close behind and could steal top position if they beat Qarabag and Chelsea drop points against Atletico Madrid. If Roma fail to win, Atletico could snatch second with victory rather than qualifying for the Europa League.

Group D

*Group leaders Barcelona will qualify as group winners, leaving Juventus and Sporting Lisbon with all to play for. If Sporting win and Juventus draw, Sporting will move on to the next round. As it stands currently, Sporting are heading for the Europa League.

WHAT’S AT STAKE?!

19:05: Plenty of you have been asking what are the various permutations tonight, and like a loyal blogging servant - here’s all you need to know.

Group A

*Manchester United have qualified and will win their group unless CSKA Moscow can win by four goals at Old Trafford. Realistically, CSKA will battle with Basel for second place while Benfica have no points and will play no further part in Europe beyond this week.

Group B

*Five straight wins guarantee Paris St-Germain qualification. Second-placed Bayern Munich will also go forward in the Champions League, but would need a four-goal win to pip PSG to top spot. Anderlecht's poor campaign sees them pointless and they would need at least a 3-0 win in Glasgow to edge Celtic out of the Europa League spot.

18:40: Diego Simeone, nicknamed El Cholo, lauded the character of his players in an unusual way when Atletico won 3-1 at Chelsea in the Champions League semi-finals in April 2014.

"I want to thank the mothers of these kids, because they were born with balls this big," Simeone said. That side, featuring Thibaut Courtois and Diego Costa, were beaten finalists to city rivals Real, but won LaLiga.

The 2017 side will need to show similar levels of character and even that might not be enough to avoid dropping into the Europa League.

I wonder if Simeone’s met Troy Deeney before? They could talk about cojones all night!

Luiz - like forward Charly Musonda - has a knee problem as Blues boss Antonio Conte aims to balance targeting a victory to top Group C with preparations for Saturday's trip to West Ham.

Striker Michy Batshuayi was an unused substitute for the win over Newcastle, so could feature.

Pogba was sent off against Arsenal and is suspended for Sunday's Manchester derby, while United are handling Ibrahimovic with care after his return from knee ligament damage.

Luke Shaw could appear for just the third time this season, Sergio Romero replaces David De Gea in goal and the injury list contains Nemanja Matic, Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, Phil Jones and Eric Bailly.
