Google has pushed-out an update to its hugely-popular navigation software

Google has updated its popular navigation app, Google Maps, to support the iPhone X.

dropped the physical Home Button from its latest flagship to enable the OLED display to bleed to the edge of the chassis.

As a result, the 5.8-inch display has an unusual 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

It also has curved edges – a first for the iPhone range – as well as the notch at the top of the screen, which is used to house the front-facing camera and Face ID technology.

App developers have been forced to update their software to support the new edge-to-edge design.

Although a slew of updates where available when the iPhone X launched on November 3rd, others have been slower to roll-out their redesigns.

Following the latest update, app now takes advantage of the full screen on the iPhone X.

The search bar is located at the top of the app, with directions and additional information provided at the bottom of the 5.8-inch display.

The updated layout of the app might make the menu button, located in the top left-hand corner, a little difficult for some users to access with one hand – but it looks much better than before.

Alongside support for the iPhone X, Google says the new app contains some bug fixes.

Google Maps version 4.41 is available to download in the App Store now.
