UK weather: Cloudy and mild day before HEAVY RAIN and ARCTIC TEMPERATURES freeze Britons

IT WILL be another cloudy and mild day for Britons on Tuesday before a band of heavy rain and arctic temperatures take over as the week continues, according to the Met Office.

Tuesday will start off with mist and fog that could cause visibility issues for the morning rush hour.

Meteorologist Alex Deakin said: “We could see a little bit of mist and fog in parts of the south, that might be a little bit of an issue for Tuesday morning’s rush hour.

“For most though, Tuesday is another dry, predominantly cloudy day.

“The cloud does have some breaks in it, some holes, we may see a bit of sunshine here and there and we will some some wet weather working into the far north-west as the winds pick up.

“Relatively mild, eight, nine or 10 degrees Celsius, maybe higher if we do see any lengthy spells of sunshine.”

As Tuesday continues, rain will start to build up in the north.

Mr Deakin added: “Through Tuesday evening, again not a great deal of change, it stays predominantly dry but cloudy although the rain will be pepping up a little bit over the Scottish Highlands and the Western Isles.”

Wednesday will bring a new band of weather bringing heavy rain and wind that is set to plague Britons with the risk of coastal flooding.

Mr Deakin went on: “There is a band of rain to the west of Ireland, that is a weather front and that is tied into an area of low pressure which will start to really mix things up through Wednesday, weather fronts swinging across the UK that will bring spells of rain.”

“As that weather system clears away then the cold conditions drive down from the arctic, these bitter, northerly winds could cause some problems, may bring some issues with coastal flooding across North Sea coasts in particular.”

Arctic temperatures will make their way back to the UK before the week is over as wintery conditions spread that could result in weather warnings.

Mr Deakin stated: “They will certainly bring the threat of some more wintery weather.

“So a spell of wet and windy weather mid-week, turning back to wintery weather before the end of the week, we may well be issuing weather warnings.”

Roads will be predominantly clear for the Tuesday morning commute with London playing host to the majority of traffic.
