ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday dismissed deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s petition seeking consolidation of three references.
On receipt of the IHC decision, the accountability court resumed hearing and a NAB witness recorded his statement.
Sharif sarcastically said that it seems even in a case seeking disqualification of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and its Secretary General Jahangir Tareen, he will be disqualified.
A reporter asked his comments on a petition against Imran and Tareen on which the Supreme Court reserved its judgement a few days back.
The ex-premier reiterated his stance on the court’s bias against him but despite that he said he was part of the judicial process.
Sharif told his party men at the Punjab House Islamabad that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government had promised to end power outages till 2018 but the electricity shortage has dispensed even in 2017.
He along with his daughter Maryam and son-in-law retired Captain Mohammad Safdar appeared before the accountability court in connection with the hearing on three references filed against them by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on the Supreme Court direction in the Panama Papers case judgement.
Strict security arrangements were taken outside the judicial complex for the appearance of the former premier, who was welcomed there by a large number of PML-N workers.
