4-day Munger Mahotsav inaugurated

MUNGER: State rural works minister Shailesh Kumar on Sunday inaugurated the foundation day function and the four-day Munger Mahotsav organized on the occasion at the Polo ground here.


Inaugurating the function, the minister said that Rishikund, which is surrounded from three sides by Kharagpur hills, will be soon developed as a tourist centre. "Rishikund is more or less like Rajgir. The hot springs here and the surroundings needs to be developed," he said.


District magistrate UK Singh said, "Munger district is not only blessed with nature's bounty but is also cherished as a historical place which needs proper development. The administration is doing its best to improve the facilities," he said.


Later on, the minister and the DM jointly inaugurated an exhibition and food fair at the Mahotsav. Stalls of different departments and social organisations have been put up at the Polo ground which are giving information to visitors about various welfare programmes of the state and the Central government.
