POWERFUL: Lauren Branning could save her dad's back

In tonight's EastEnders, Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Osborne) was given the task of delivering eviction notices to the square.

She refused and threw them back in Luke Browning's (Adam Astill) face, before he then sacked her.

That means the Brannings were completely out of Weyland & Co, as Max (Jake Wood) had been betrayed by the family once he'd completed his purpose.

Lauren is completely disgusted with how her dad has treated his friends on the square.

But her fancy man Josh Hemmings (Eddie Eyre) felt guilty, as he hadn't known exactly what his family had been up to.

CRUEL: Lauren was told to deliver eviction notices to residents – but refused

Trying to make things better, he secretly gave Lauren a copy of Max's contract – the one that had been destroyed last night.

This means, if she gave it to Max, that he would have a claim to the 20% of the profits from taking over Albert Square.

At the end of tonight's episode, the Weyland & Co lot drove away from the square, leaving Max shouting at them.

Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) slapped him round the face, telling him to pull himself together.

But could it be Lauren who will end up coming through for Max, despite his recent backstabbing?

Or will Max be hit by yet another setback, this time by his own flesh and blood?

Actor Jake Wood has teased Thursday night's episode will be a good one to watch, while thanking viewers.

He tweeted: "Thanks for all the love tonight. Tomorrow night's episode is one of the best I've ever been involved in. From here until Christmas, hold onto your hats people."

DRAMATIC: Jake Wood has teased an amazing episode on Thursday

Over on Reddit, fans reckon storyline.

But one fan rebuked the theory, writing: "I was considering earlier is Max now a classic, untouchable historical character?

"He's done a 10+ year stretch and I reckon is well known enough that a non-EastEnders viewer would know who he is, a bit like Ian Beale, Dot Cotton, Phil Mitchell, or even Sharon."

EastEnders continues Thursday night at 7.30pm on BBC One.
