Gold ornaments, silver looted in Giridih in separate incidents

Two people, one jeweller and one ornaments trader, were robbed of gold ornaments and silver worth Rs three lakh  in two separate incidents at Bagodar area, police said on Monday. In one incident, one motorcycle-borne criminal looted at gunpoint the owner of Priti jewellery shop  on Harihardham road here on Monday at 11 am and toook away a packet of gold ornaments, police said.

According to reports, the incident took place near Tirahe turning point under the Bagodar police station on Monday when an ornaments trader namely Ajit Swarnkar, who had just opened his shop at 11 am while one unidentified motorcycle-borne criminal who reached there on pretext of exchanging old gold ornaments for new gold ornaments. They asked Ajit to show some gold ornaments. When Ajit opened   the safe to take out gold ornaments, one of the youths  snatched the bag containing gold ornaments. When Ajit tried to prevent their  bid, they took him on gun point and also snatched the bag containing gold and fled.

In another incident near Tirla village, early on Monday, robbers looted one kg silver and gold ornaments valued at over Rs 2 lakh after breaking the dicky of a motorcycle. The police said the incident took place at around 9 am  when an ornaments trader Visheshwar Swarnkar had stopped his motorcycle near Tirla and had gone to meet someone.
