The Pakistani military respects the rights of the religious minorities in the Muslim majority country, a top officer has said as the first Sikh officer of the Pakistan Army tied the knot.

Major Harcharan Singh got married on Sunday at Gurdwara Puja Sahib, Hasan Abdal, Punjab province.

The wedding was attended by a number of serving and retired officers of Pakistan Army, media reports said.

In his message, Chief of Army Staff General Bajwa also extended his good wishes to Major Singh for his matrimonial life, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani military, said.

Singh was commissioned in Pakistan Army in 2007.

"Pakistan Army remains a symbol of national integration and respects rights of religious minorities in Pakistan," the official spokesperson of the Pakistan Armed Forces tweeted.

According to Pakistani media, Singh's family migrated to the Northern Areas at the time of partition and in 1970s shifted to Nankana Sahib, Punjab. AKJ AKJ
