PATNA: Angry investors of a private finance company blocked the road near Rajendra Nagar Terminal for an hour on Monday, demanding recovery of their money.

The protestor took to the streets after police allegedly failed to take action against the non-banking finance company (NBFC) even though an FIR was lodged against it by certain investors in the Patrakar Nagar police station a month ago.

According to one of protesters, the FIR accused the NBFC named Central Bank Employees Association of duping the investors of their money. However, the administration allegedly did not take any action.

"When we inquired from police, we were told the company shut down a year ago and its employees had run away with the money," another protester said and added he had invested lakhs of rupees which now appeared to have gone down the drain.

He said instead of helping the investors, police caned them. "No one is listening to our pleas," he said.

Police sources said most people lost their money because of their carelessness. "People do not care to verify the attractive offers made by frauds," said a police officer.

Patrakar Nagar police station SHO Sanjeet Kumar Sinha, however, said police were investigating the matter. He denied that the demonstrating investors were caned.
