Vadodara: Former Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel targeted Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi during her poll campaign in the city on Tuesday. He said that Rahul was no match for prime minister Narendra Modi.

While comparing Rahul with Modi, Patel said that Rahul was trying to imitate the PM. Patel said that if the PM goes to temple, even Rahul does. "If Modi takes a kid in is lap, even he does. If he takes selfie with a daughter, even he does," she said adding that the PM went on fast every Navratri and even Rahul could do so. She was addressing a gathering of BJP Mahila Morcha members in the city.

"There is a Swaminarayan temple merely four kilometres away from Sonia Gandhi's residence. The whole world goes there. But have they ever gone there? They may never go there once the elections are over," Patel said. She added that while Rahul may be trying to imitate Modi, there was no comparison. "Kahan Raja Bhoj, kahan Gangu Teli," she said.

Patel slammed the Congress for saying that there had been no development and enumerated a series of development works taken up by the BJP governments over the years. "All of you can see the 108 ambulances, but Congress cannot. Next time they need one, they should rather go in a horse cart," she said while referring to Congress.

She even said that the Congress was misleading the people on privatisation of education. "Several students were forced to go to other states for education, but this stopped after private institutes came up," she said adding that the policy for the privatisation was also made by the Congress government.
