Kohima, Dec. 5 (EMN): Entering the fifth day of the Hornbill festival, a bamboo stilt walking competition was organised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports at the main venue of the festival at Kisama on Tuesday.
In the competition, Manloi Phom emerged as the winner and took away the cash price of INR. 7000 while Kedesuyi Swuro, Chakhesang bagged the second position, Shekivi, Sumi in 3rd position and received a cash of Rs. 5000 and Rs. 3000 respectively.
It may be mentioned the game was played to determine ability, agility, flexibility and technique of the participants.
The stilt bamboo race is one of the most popular and exciting indigenous games among the Naga people. The game is played and enjoyed by most of the tribes of Nagaland. The participants competed by walking or racing each other on bamboo stilts.
12 participants, representing various tribes of Nagaland, took part in the competition.
