Railway Officials Step Up Anti-trespass Drive

Railway officials from Pune division have ramped up the drive to curb instances of people trespassing on railway tracks.

Hefty fines and penalties await those who illegally cross the tracks, putting their lives at risk.

The officials have identified 10 points at 13 railway stations in Pune division as high-risk zones. Pune’s divisional security commissioner D Vikas told TOI that the plan is to plug the gaps, which people use as short cuts, apart from awareness drives.

“People use these points as shortcuts to their destinations. They forget that such an act can cost them their lives. And many fatal accidents occurred. While the railways and the railway protection force (RPF) are continuously trying to end the menace, accidents still happen,” Vikas said. Read More…
