BENGALURU: Velvets, shimmer and deep hues are defining fashion statements of 2017. The fourth edition of the Fashionable One, organised by 1 MG Lido mall, showcased international and national brands that set trends this year. It was a nostalgic flashback as well as an alert about what is coming next.
With actor Kriti Kharbanda closing the show in midnight blue velvet gown, designed by the Ramesh Dembla, celebrity designer as well as the curator of this show, it was evident that the dawn of the season had arrived.
The show started an hour late but the audience didn’t seem to mind. Bloggers and fashionistas had taken seats and were Instagram-ready when the stage lit-up in translucent blue and pale yellow. Fabindia was the show-starter and there was a playful mix of colours from shades as bright as pink and gold to low tones of black and off-white. Shimmer was evident. The highlight was the combination of beige and mustard for men’s suit and waist coats.
The Canadian Moroccan retailer Aldo sashayed in the fiercest of colours mixing bright pink with vermillion red. A neat low bun paired with circular shades did justice to the smart jumpsuits and fitting blazers. The brand known for its shoes, glorified shiny ones. So there were nude shiny peep-toe heels and shiny red ones. Box-shaped glitter bag served to remind that sparkle is not going out of style anytime soon, perhaps matte has already left.
Being Human kept it chic and casual pairing denim on denim and the styles that stated 2017 airport style in a nutshell. Da Milano, donned orange at its best with orange mini zip dress and a travel-easy leather suitcase. Leather and fur stated the high fashion category with shiny leather pants paired with fur coats and metallic heels. Black sequence and slit leather skirts reminded the comeback.
AND, the clothing line known for simple sophistication and soft hues, kick-started with a bright red leather jacket and leopard print boots. The series featured surprising bold looks with black leather jackets, uneven long skirts, slit dresses, wrap dresses and stripes. Global Desi kept true to its boho spirit and flaunted easy fusion wears and a lot of palazzos.
The final show was that of the curator, Ramesh Dembla, who named the series as Krishna Dembla. The bridal collection in the warmest combination of flaming red and calming gold stated that wedding are going to be a bold fashion movement again. Pastels were dismissed. Bright purple ghagaras, shimmering pink blouses and peach sequences came to the fore. Embellishment was still the highlight. High-neck red blouse with a serpentine drape of gold in one arm while the other arm left bare, displayed femininity at its fashionable best. The colour that took everyone by surprise and made heads turn was the subtle glowing rust hue, and perhaps the colour to look out for this coming season.
Men were spotted in body hugging pink and red blazers with prominent gold brooch or embroidery. The show stopper and the designer took their bow wearing midnight blue and that was the much anticipated colour of the season.
