IGEF to bring leading residential rooftop players to Intersolar India

India’s largest three-day exhibition and conference for the solar industry- Intersolar India- will begin from December 5, 2017 in Mumbai

Indo German Energy Forum (IGEF) is organising an informative a session on “Residential Rooftop systems – Design and Quality Go Hand in Hand” at the Intersolar India in Mumbai on December 6. The session aims to bring PV rooftop industry experts on a common platform to exchange technical know-how and experiences of working with residential PV rooftop consumers with an objective to support the growth of PV residential rooftop.

CEO of National Skill Development Council India Praveen Saxena will share his views on the potential of rooftop sector in creating green jobs and how the sector supports Skill India Mission of the Government of India. Entrepreneurs with hands-on experience of residential customer acquisition will present the challenges they have faced in marketing the systems and the solutions they have devised to build consumer trust, especially the quality assurance measures.

An innovative plug-n-play PV Port with storage system will be introduced by Gaebler, GIZ India, with a potential to reach 5GW of rooftop capacity addition by 2022. The system comes in standardized size and modular design, bulk produced, do- it- yourself kit which can be marketed through utilities. Stefan Hediger, Head of Energy Cell, German Development Bank-KFW will talk about PV market development in India.

In the global photovoltaic rooftop markets, notably in Germany and the USA, adoption of solar by individual home owners have steered the capacity addition considering both economic and environmental factors. India is yet to follow this trend. Adoption of PV rooftop by residential consumer will play a central role in achieving 40GW of capacity addition target by 2022. Roughly, 10GW capacity addition is envisaged in the residential sector.

Policy makers and regulators have provided a friendly environment by laying down effective compensation mechanisms and incentives in place. By now on the one hand, there exists substantial practical experience with the practitioners on the challenges impeding the growth. While on the other, entrepreneurs have innovated solutions that could potentially revolutionize the sector.
