Training in Jaipur discusses well-being model of school education
A five-day training of middle-level educational functionaries from Bhutan at Jaipuria Management Institute in Jaipur is being held.

In the inaugural session on December 4, the well-being model of school education to make learning a joyful experience was discussed.

The resource person presented the model and summed up the presentation with an ABC verse to crystallize the model so that it can be strategically planned and implemented systematically as a process with inputs, through-puts, output evaluation with corrective feedback and mid-course corrections.

The participants were made to recite the ABC verse on well being to put the new vocabulary in their working memory. The verse went as follows:

A: Acquiring a way of life of optimal integrated health of body, mind, and spirit

B: Balanced combination of existential self; creative and constructive self; social self; emotional self, professional self and physical self

C: Contextualising oneself locally, institutionally, nationally, globally and existentially

D:  Developing oneself in social, professional, spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual dimensions

E: Evolving oneself in self-learning, self-development, self-management and self-improvement by treating wellness as a complex construct to be learned continuously

The participants were made to draw a sketch note on the concept of wellness, create a word-search puzzle and play a game in groups of six-each to emphasise the importance of caring and sharing in learning.

It was emphasised that once the model becomes clear, it can be be strategically action-planned to be implemented successfully.

The four component model consisted of positive psychology foundation, relational sociological foundation, pedagogical foundation and participatory management foundation of the school.

The participants were urged to experiment with the model in one school or one class first before expanding the model to other schools as an improved model.
