Al-Fayez : Jordan, Pakistan see eye-to-eye on various Mideast issues

(MENAFN - Jordan News Agency) Amman, Dec. 5 (Petra) -- Senate President, Faisal al-Fayez, on Tuesday urged fostering Jordanian-Pakistani economic,Investment and trade ties, in a bid to serve aspirations of both countries' peoples.

His remarks came during talks with his visiting Pakistani counterpart, Mian Rida Rabbani, here.

High on the agenda was bolstering joint cooperation, the Mideast developments, and revival of mutually signed accords as well.

Al-Fayez pointed out both countries share common stances on diverse political issues, first and foremost, efforts to fight terrorism and extremism.

He stressed the dire need to find a political settlement to the Palestinian issue, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, based on the two-state solution.

As for the Syrian crisis, he voiced hope the relevant global efforts would conduce to a holistic political solution to give Syrian refugees a chance to return home.

The Pakistani official, on his part, highlighted Islamabad's & quot;longstanding & quot; ties with the Kingdom, based on mutual respect to serve joint interests.

He said his country sees eye-to-eye with Jordan on Mideast peace process and the need to empower the Palestinians to establish their sovereign state.

Pakistan, Rabbani pointed out, deems Jordan a vigorous partner to achieve peace and security in the Middle East and hailed relentless efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II to reach regional peace and stability.
