Marlene Koenig, a royal expert and author warned fans of Kate Middleton not to expect her to play a prominent role in the upcoming nuptials - for two reasons.
She said: “The Duchess of Cambridge barely knows Meghan.”
Ms Koenig also told Cosmopolitan: “For another, she is the future queen consort when William becomes king after his father, and would unlikely be an attending person to another royal bride.”
Ms Koenig explained that the only title the Duchess could hold is matron of honour.

But the royal expert believes “it’s unlikely for Catherine to do this” as she “was not a matron of honour, even at her sister’s wedding”.
While Meghan’s bridal party is yet to be revealed, other wedding plans are well underway.
It was recently revealed Harry and Meghan will break with tradition and have a wedding cake made from bananas.
A source told The Telegraph the yellow fruit will feature in their wedding cake.
They said: “This will be the first royal wedding cake made from bananas.”
