Morocco Seeks to Play Friendly Against Belgium Ahead of 2018 World Cup

(MENAFN - Morocco World News) Rabat - The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) believes that the Belgian national football team is a good sparring partner for the Moroccan squad to help prepare for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, according to Moroccan media. The federation seeks to arrange a friendly game between the Moroccan and Belgian team ahead of the next phase of the World Cup, which will take place in Russia next summer. The Atlas Lions are set to play decisive games against strong opponents in its Group B: Spain, Iran, and Portugal. In efforts to get the squad ready for the tournament, the federation is seeking friendlies with European teams to test its strengths and weaknesses and prepare its footballers for the tournament. The federation says it believes the Belgian team's playing tactics and style resembles to that of Spanish team La Roja. The game will also be beneficial to the Belgian team, as it will face Tunisia during the next phase of the tournament. Before the tournament's final draw on December 1 in Moscow, Moroccan daily newspaper Assabah reported that Morocco's team manager, Herve Renard, wanted his team to play against European and Latin American squads to evaluate the Lions' abilities. Earlier this year, speculation were spread by international media that the Moroccan team would play two friendlies against Scotland and Argentina. Fouzi Lekjaa, the president of FRMF, said in an interview with Moroccan sports channel Arriyadia that Moroccan squad will face Argentina in a friendly in Agadir next"
