The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Ranchi University (RU) on Monday released the election notification for University Students Union polls in the presence of university staff. According to the notification, the process of direct election at colleges and university departments will begin from December 11 with filing the nominations while the process of electing the office-bearers of RU Students’ Union through indirect election will initiate from December 20.
The direct election will be conducted at college level on December 18 at respective colleges and departments from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Counting of votes, declaration of result followed by oath ceremony and submission/intimation of complete list of elected members to the Dean Student Welfare (DSW) office will be done on December 19 from 10 AM onwards.
According to the election notification, on December 11 and December 12, nominations will be filled by the contestants between 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM at the concerned places for colleges and institutes including at university department of chemistry, Morhabadi for University Departments Students’ Union.
The university personnel will commence the scrutiny task on December 12 initiating from 11 AM. The withdrawal process will begin from 10:30 AM and continue till 2:00 PM on December 15. According to the university personnel, the final list of contestants will be published at 4 PM on December 15. Following the code of conduct for election, the contestants have been instructed to end their election campaign on December 16 by 4 PM.
Meanwhile, giving rest to all anticipations of conducting students’ union poll in two phases, the varsity personnel on the occasion clarified that both direct and indirect election will be conducted in December 2017. Sharing the details of indirect election, RU Officer (PR), PK Jha said, “All the mandatory process of electing the office-bearers of RU Students’ Union through indirect election will get complete in five days. Following the election schedule, oath ceremony at Shaheed Smiriti Bhawan, Morhabadi immediately after declaration of result will be conducted on December 24.”
The university schedule for indirect election suggests that the publication of final electoral roll at university level out of the elected members in the office of the DSW will be issued on December 20. For the final show, the university will gear up from December 21 with filing nominations in university at DSW’s office from 10:30 AM to 3 PM.
The nominations will be scrutinized by the officials on December 21 from 1 PM onwards. By 4:30 PM, withdrawal process will be complete on December 21 with the publication of final list at 5 PM. The indirect election will be conducted at Multi Purpose Examination Hall (MPEH) from 10:30 AM to 4 PM.
