Wonderla Holidays opens ‘space flying experience ride’ at its Hyderabad park

HYDERABAD: Amusement park operator Wonderla Holidays on Monday launched ‘Mission Interstellar’, a space flying experience ride, in Hyderabad. Wonderla has invested Rs 40 crore on its new attraction set up at its Hyderabad park.

“Space flying ride has been developed in collaboration with leading US and European theme park design companies, while installation and integration will be managed completely by Wonderla engineering team. It has impressive features like largest parabolic screen of 3,500 sq ft, 4K resolution laser projector, hydraulic lift seating system for 60 pax, from Italy to make the ride real and immersive, housed in an eight-storey building with a 23-metre dome shaped roof,” said Arun K Chittilappilly, managing director, Wonderla Holidays.  

Spread over 50 acres, comprising 43 rides, Wonderla’s Hyderabad park was launched in April 2016. It has been an instant hit with residents and tourists alike and the new addition is expected to increase the footfalls.Wonderla Holidays operates three amusement parks in Kochi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. It also has plans to enter Chennai in the future.

With amusement parks business in India still being in the initial stages, it presents huge growth potential for players in the segment. Wonderla Holidays, a major player in the segment, has been registering promising growth. While it grew at about 30 per cent in FY17, it is confident of repeating the growth rate in FY18.
