HUBBALLI: The ongoing political spat between District Minister Vinay Kulkarni and MP Prahlad Joishi has taken a different turn with followers of the minister dubbing the MP as anti-Lingayat.
Hundreds of supporters of Kulkarni, under the banner of Federation of Sub-castes of Lingayat Community, tried to lay siege to the MP’s residence here on Monday. But, their bid was foiled by the policemen who blocked the road several metres away from Joshi’s residence.

A private channel had recently aired an audio and video clips, in which the minister was presumed to be striking a compromise between the family members of BJP leader Yogish Gouda Goudar and Goudar’s murderers through a senior police officer. As the clips had put the minister in a dock, Kulkarni has been alleging that Joshi was behind the act.

Since then Joshi is being targeted by the minister, now, his supporters are trying to project Joshi as anti-Lingayat. Members of the Federation of Sub-castes of Lingayat Community gathered at Bengeri Ground and took out a march towards Joshi’s residence. and raised slogans against him.
