Veteran Bollywood actor Shashi Kapoor dies at 79
Veteran Bollywood actor of the 70s Shashi Kapoor passed away on 4 December 2015 following a prolonged illness at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. He was 79. Shashi Kapoor was known for his line 'Mere Paas Maa Hai'.

Kapoor made his debut as a leading man in 1961 in Yash Chopra Dharamputra, a film that portrays the Partition and connected issue of communalism and religious bigotry.

Kapoor was one of the earliest actors who ventured internationally when no one dared to. He was also amongst the Bollywood personalities who supported independent theatre and cinema.

US Supreme Court allows President Trump's travel ban to go fully into effect
US Supreme Court on 4 December 2017 ruled that the travel ban imposed on six Muslim countries by President Donald Trump can now go fully into effect.

Out of the bench of nine justices, seven justices lifted the ban imposed by lower courts on the policy. Only Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor asserted that the President's order should remain blocked.

However, the directive against travellers from Chad, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen still faces legal challenges. Now, Federal Appeals Courts in San Francisco, California and Richmond will hear arguments on whether the latest iteration of the policy is lawful.

India and Germany sign Government to Government Umbrella Agreement
India and Germany on 4 December 2017 signed the Government to Government Umbrella Agreement concerning the Financial Cooperation in 2016 (II) under the Indo-German Development Cooperation.

The agreement was signed to formalize an amount up to 200 million Euros for the financial cooperation in form of loan for the project ‘Climate Friendly Urban Mobility III’ and 11 million Euros in form of grant for four projects.

The Agreement was signed by Martin Ney, Ambassador on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany and S. Selvakumar, Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs of Union Ministry of Finance.
