PM Modi remembers Shashi Kapoor the actor and the man of the threatre

Condoling the death of Shashi Kapoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the enigmatic actor for this versatility, passion for theatre and brilliant acting that will be remember for generation to come.

This was not a movie critic reviewing a performance of the now late Bollywood legend Shashi Kapoor, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoling the death of the 'best-looking Kapoor'.

Shashi Kapoor promoted theatre with "great passion", PM Modi said, saying his brilliant acting will be remembered for generations to come.

"Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers," the Prime Minister added.

President Ram Nath Kovind too sent out a tweet condoling the enigmatic actor's death and noted his repertoire of Indian as well as international films.

"His support for meaningful cinema as a producer and pivotal role in the theatre movement in India too are cherished," the tweet signed by President Kovind himself added.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was among the others who tweeted his condolences on Shashi Kapoor's death. "His (Shashi Kapoor's) contribution in (sic) Hindi film industry will be remembered forever," Fadnavis said.

Congress leader Sashi Tharoor, on the other hand, had a truly emotional resposne, saying he feels as though a part of him is gone. A great actor, smart, cosmopolitan, impossibly handsome & w/a (with a) name that was often confused w/mine (with  mine)," Tharoor added before providing an example of just how easily the two Shashis are mistaken by people. "My office got two calls from journalists today about my reportedly serious ill-health," Tharoor said.
