MANCHESTER CITY boss Pep Guardiola has responded to Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba’s controversial comments ahead of their Old Trafford showdown.

The win saw City reclaim their eight point lead over United at the top of the table after Jose Mourinho’s side beat Arsenal 3-1 last night.

And Pogba, who is expected to miss the Manchester derby through suspension, admitted earlier this week that he hoped City suffered a number of injuries.

The Frenchman said: “I hope – and it’s bad to say things like this – but I hope they will get some very important players injured like what happened with us.

“I’m pretty sure he doesn’t want to injure our players”

“So if that starts happening with them as well maybe we’ll get a little difference. A little touch that makes them weaker.”

But Guardiola doubts Pogba really wishes injury on his players and hopes the 24-year-old is available to play next Sunday.

“Hopefully there are no injuries,” Guardiola said ahead of the Mancunian derby.

“I would like it if Paul could play against us, I like to face the teams with their best possible players.

“I’m pretty sure he doesn’t want to injure our players.”
