Sentenced to life term, gangster dared cops

That prisoners are difficult to handle best reflected in the way gangster Dharminder Singh alias Guggni refused to board a police van after a court in Mohali sentenced him to a life term in prison along with eight others on November 22.

Having been given the punishment for the murder of a lawyer in Phase 3A on February 27, 2013, Guggni and the eight others were being taken to jail in Mohali when the gangster insisted that he carry a bag with him.

While policemen escorting Guggni denied permission and tried to force him into the van, the gangster refused and got into an argument. "Don't stop me from carrying my belongings. I will not enter without the bag," he told the cops, who relented after a while and bowed to the gangsters' demands.

To show that they had won this round with the cops, gangsters gestured the victory sign from inside the van to flashing cameras outside.
