SURAT: BJP held an impressive roadshow in Majura area of the city on Sunday. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who too participated in the roadshow, said, "Hardik Patel is exposed and doesn't need any reservation. Patidars have understood this and are with BJP."

Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) too under the leadership of its convener Hardik Patel had earlier held a roadshow in the city, in which thousands of Patidars participated.

The BJP roadshow with motorcycles and four-wheeler vehicles began from near Sargam Shopping Centre and moved through City Light to Bhatar Road where substantial number of aggrieved textile traders and disenchanted Patidars are based.

The roadshow was welcomed by representatives from 27 caste, linguistic and religious groups like Muslim Mahila Samaj, Sindhi Samaj, Marwadi Samaj, Agarwal Samaj, Maheswari Samaj and Terapanthi community, Punjabi Samaj, North Gujarat Samaj, Vaishanav Samaj and Prajapati Samaj among others. People from around 50 housing societies also welcomed the roadshow that ended at old LB Cinema on Bhatar Road. Some Muslim women appreciated the draft bill on triple talaq to be introduced in Parliament by BJP government at the centre.

Majura BJP candidate Harsh Sanghvi said, "We had not expected such a huge welcome to the roadshow that was taken out after just five hours of preparation. We are confident now of winning again with a huge margin. We have the support of all the communities here."

Rupani said, "Congress has tried to divide trader community and Patidar Samaj. However, presence of people from different communities in our roadshow depicts that they have understood the design of divisive forces."

Rupani was campaigning for a BJP candidate in the city as chief minister for the first time. He was scheduled to complete the roadshow in an hour but it got stretched to three hours because of good response from people.
