(MENAFN)After spreading some rumors that Former Egyptian premier Ahmed Shafik was kidnapped after declaring he is running for presidency of Egypt, his lawyer affirmed that she met with him at a Cairo hotel on Sunday, following his arrival from the UAE.

"I had a meeting with Shafik an hour ago at one of the hotels in New Cairo and confirmed his health," stated lawyer Dina Adly in a post on Facebook.

"He confirmed that his health was good and that he was not subjected to any investigations," she said.

Adly however; did not give any further comments on whether Shafik would leave the hotel, which she did not identify by name.
