Mangalurean killed in shark attack in Costa Rica

MANGALURU: A native of Mangaluru, 49-year-old Rohina Bhandary died after being attacked savagely by a tiger shark in Costa Rica in Central America.Rohina Bhandary is the sister of well-known doctor Dr Nithin Bhandary and grand daughter of I G Balakrishna Shetty. The incident happened on Thursday (November 30).

Rohina after securing her MSc degree in finance from George Washington University had obtained Master of Business Management degree from Asian Institute of Management. She was working as sales and marketing executive in New York.

She was on a tour of countries in the American continent along with some friends.She was enjoying scuba diving at Costa Rica when tragedy struck.The Costa Rican scuba diving guide guiding the group told officials that the tiger shark attacked the group surfacing at the tail end of the dive.Rohina who was hauled out of the water had sustained severe bites on both the legs.She breathed her last before she could be taken to a hospital. The guide was also injured in the attack.
