Lily Allen faces backlash after tweeting that she'll be homeless at Christmas

LILY Allen has faced furious backlash on Twitter today.

The songstress took to social media to claim she is unable to move back into the London flat she owns because the tenants are claiming "diplomatic immunity".

Taking to the official account, the starlet wrote to her 5.96 million followers: "Meant to be moving back into my flat this week, but my tenants just dropped that they can't find anywhere to go up to their standards.

"Then they said they're diplomats and have diplomatic immunity and there's nothing I can do about it.

"So, who fancies a family of 3 for Xmas?"

TWEET AND DELETE: Lily initially shared this with her 5.96 million followers

The tweet has since been deleted from her account, but not before followers took screenshots.

The 32-year-old has since faced the wrath of her followers, with one accusing her of being a "champagne socialist".

They hit out: "You could of given that flat to a couple of refugees instead of profiteering out of the limited properties in London!"

Someone else shared a picture of the starlet crying, with the words "PrayForLily" scrawled across the top.

Lily later tweeted and deleted again, this time saying that "private equity managers, tax experts and hedge hedge funders been looking" at the situation.

However, other users offered up their homes to the star, with one writing: "You can come to us, Lily. We're having goose & something bizarre & veggie for the lad."

Another wrote: "You can come to ours in Spain if you like?"

A third chimed in: "I'll be spending Christmas on my own due to work. More than welcome here if you're not allergic to cats & not a noisy eater."

Last year Lily divided opinion after apologising to migrants in the Calais Jungle on Britain's behalf.

FANS ARE DIVIDED: Some fans mocked Lily, while others invited her around for Xmas

At the time, she insisted she would take a child migrant into her home.

Meanwhile, it was revealed last year that the Sheezus star was selling her £4.2 million Cotswolds mansion after being hit by a hefty tax bill.

In a now deleted tweet, Lily told fans: "I've had a tough couple of years, I'm having to sell my home to pay my tax bill."
