Raipurians celebrate `No Vehicle Day’ silver jubilee

Taking the pledge to make the capital city pollution-free, Raipurians on Sunday observed the silver jubilee of ‘No Vehicle Day’.

The ‘No Vehicle Day’ drive was initiated by the Raipur Mayor Pramod Dubey and it has completed 25 months on Sunday. The drive was launch in wake of rising pollution graph in the state capital and majority of people in Raipur now hail the initiative as a Rs great success’. 

‘No Vehicle Day’ is observed on the 3rd day of every month and the movement get kicked off on December 3rd 2015.

 Various cultural programmes and a bicycle rally were organised to mark the occasion at the Marine Drive on Sunday.

Addressing on this occasion, Raipur Mayor Pramod Dubey said that the data after survey of the Government tells that the pollution level in the capital has significantly came down after the launch of ‘No Vehicle Day’.

 He informed that the Raipur Municipal Corporation is also constructing the cycle track in the capital so that more and more people would be encouraged for cycling.

Child artists of Voice of India Harvir Singh, Samiksha Joshi and Garima Diwakar presented their songs on this occasion and thrilled the audiences. Former international cricketer Rajesh Chauhan and National Wrestling Coach, Leena Yadav also participated in the programme.
