DHAKA: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) sent a letter to cabinet division asking to take action against 97 teachers of eight renowned educational institutions in the city for their involvement in coaching business.
ACC deputy director and public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattachariay confirmed the matter to Banglanews on Monday (Dec 4).
He said ACC chairman on Sunday (Dec 3) signed the letter seeking action against 97 teachers of eight institutions in Dhaka. The letter was sent to cabinet division on Monday. The accused teachers are involved in coaching business.
Of the 97 teachers, 8 are from Viqarunnisa Noon School and College, 12 from Motijheel Government Boys' High School, 36 from Ideal School and College, 24 from Motijheel Model School and College, 5 from Rajuk Uttara Model School and College, 4 from Motijheel Government Girls High School, one from Khilgaon Government high School and 8 from Dhanmondi Government Laboratory High School, he said.
On the other hand, the government formulated a policy in 2012 to curb the coaching business. In April this year, the ACC launched an investigation if teachers are abiding by the guidelines. After four months of probe, ACC enlisted the teachers who are still making money from coaching business defying government policy.
