The US star will play the Black Widow in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4, but will that be the last we see of her as the Marvel favourite?

With a confirmed “end of an era” feel to the two blockbusters, her exit would certainly would tie in with speculation that several heroes will be kicking the bucket.

“It’s bittersweet to imagine not having these films to come back to,” she told Vanity Fair. 

“I’ve been living this story with these people for 10 years through ups and downs. We’ve built a great family. 

“Personally, it feels like a loss,” she added.

Still, she spoke with excitement about the “next generation” of heroes starting to make their debuts - including Brie Larson as Captain Marvel.

“It’s very surreal for me to watch these new cast members come in and get their feet wet and breath new life into these characters who are so iconic,” she mused. 

“I feel a lot of joy for the next generation. It’s a bittersweet feeling but overall it’s a positive one. 

“I feel good about the work we’ve done and the work I’ve done.

It has also been speculated that Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man, Chris Evans’ Captain America and Sebastian Stan’s Bucky could make sad exits in the new movies.

The first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War came out last week, showing Iron Man appearing to struggle at the hands of Josh Brolin’s Thanos.
