SSC student dies in accident at Valpem

Mapusa: A 15-year-old SSC student died in a fatal accident at Valpem, Pernem, on the national highway 66 on Monday afternoon.

Pernem police said that the accident took place at around 2.45pm when scooter rider Nandan Toraskar and pillion rider Sahil Varadkar were travelling from Patradevi towards their residence at Pilerne, Bardez.

Sources said that the duo had gone to attend a wedding at Patradevi. On reaching Valpem, their bike hit cattle and the rider lost control.


The pillion rider, Varadkar, fell onto the road and suffered serious head injuries. He was shifted by a 108 ambulance to North Goa district hospital at Peddem, where doctors declared him 'brought dead'. Toraskar escaped with minor injuries.


Pernem police conducted the panchanama and registered a case of accident.


Pernem police are investigating the case.
