A viral video shows the moment a police officer attempts to stop a criminal on the road.

The man he is chasing is on a quad bike, lit up on the road, whilst the police officer is on a bicycle.

As he stands up on his bike, the criminal can be seen gesturing rudely back at him.

What happens next is rather embarrassing for the police officer.

As he gets closer to the man on the quad bike, he steps off his bike and runs towards him.

Misjudging the speed he was going, he trips and stumbles to the ground.

He then spins in the air before landing on the floor, thankfully at a red light where a crossing is so he is out of the way of traffic.

The man on the quad bike then speeds out of sight, having escaped him.

The video has since had over 120,000 views, with Imgur users baffled at what the police officer was trying to do.

One remarked: “I don't think this plan was fully formed.”

Others think they have worked out why the police officer attempted the stunt.

Another commented: “This bicycle cop has watched too many action movies.”
