270-MW solar projects this yr

A total of 12 solar power projects established at different places in the State are now generating 63 mega watt of power and the State Government has targeted to set up eight new solar power units together of 270-MW capacity during the current year, 2017-18.

Energy Minister Prafulla Mallick informed this in response to a question of BJD MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain in the State Assembly on Friday.

Of 12 projects operating now, a 20-MW pant has been established at Manmunda by the Gedcol and the rest 11 established at different places under different programmes of the Union and the State Governments.

Besides 63 MW, the State procures 75 mega watt solar power from other States for utilisation.
