Khaleda to surrender in court Tuesday

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will surrender before a special makeshift court on Tuesday in Zia Orphanage and Zia Charitable Trust graft cases to seek bail.

The special court set up on the ground of Alia Madrasa in the city's Bakshibazar issued arrest warrant against the BNP chief on November 30 cancelling her bail as she did not appear before it on that day in the same case.

Khaleda's lawyer Sanaullah Mia confirmed media on Monday morning about her court appearance.

The Zia Charitable Trust graft case was filed by the ACC in 2010 against the BNP chief and three others for embezzlement of Tk 31.5 million.

The Zia Orphanage Trust graft case was filed in 2008. The ACC case accuses Khaleda, her son Tarique Rahman and four others of embezzling Tk 21 million.

The special court is hearing the graft cases against Khaleda.
