Man Utd cool Gareth Bale interest amid fears Real Madrid will move for David de Gea

Bale is a long-term target for United, with boss Jose Mourinho a big fan.

But Starsport understand their interest in Bale is cooling, with his nightmare injury record a concern for top brass at Old Trafford.

They also fear De Gea could be targeted by Real if United ramp up their interest in the Welsh wonder.

De Gea almost joined the Spanish giants in 2015 but a deal collapsed at the last minute.

And it’s feared if transfer negotiations open between the two clubs then the goalkeeper’s future could be back on the agenda.

United are said to value Bale, who Real bought for £85m in 2013, at around £50m now.

But Mourinho may decide to shop elsewhere, with keeping De Gea on board a top priority.

Real have Costa Rica international Keylor Navas between the sticks, but De Gea would be a considerable upgrade.

Thibaut Courtois is another player understood to be liked by Real.

He’s not agreed a new contract with Chelsea and it’s claimed he could be on the move for nothing in 2019.
