Rajkot: An employee of Dasada Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) was robbed of Rs 17.75 lakh cash by two robbers in Patdi town of Surendranagar district on Monday.

According to police, Nitish Rajgor (18), a resident of Dasada town of Surendranagar district, was riding pillion on a motorcycle behind his office peon Prakash. "Rajgor was carrying a bag containing the cash belonging to the Dasada APMC meant to be deposited in the District Co-operative Bank. Suddenly, near Jamadarvas in Patadi, two robbers on a bike overtook his bike and one of them snatched the bag from the hands of Rajgor and sped away," an official from Patdi police station said.

"It appears to have been the handiwork of an insider as the robbers very well knew that their victims were carrying the cash. The possibility of the complainant himself turning out to be a culprit in the case can not be ruled out as it has happened in many cases in the past. We are probing all angles," said a source from Patdi police station adding that the manhunt for the culprits has been launched.
