Jurgen Klopp: Why I had a horrible feeling during Liverpool’s win over Brighton

JURGEN KLOPP has revealed he was momentarily worried that Liverpool would crumble against Brighton like they did against Sevilla.

Liverpool romped to a 5-1 victory away at Brighton on Saturday.

Roberto Firmino grabbed a double as the Reds moved into the top four of the Premier League for the first time since August.

Klopp, who made six changes to the side that beat Stoke 3-0 on Wednesday, have now won their past three away league games on the trot.

Although Glenn Murray scored from the penalty spot six minutes after the restart, the Anfield outfit ran out comfortable winners.

We needed this so we don't have that (Sevilla) in our mind completely

Jurgen Klopp

But that didn’t stop Klopp having a sense of deja vu when Liverpool were three goals up against Sevilla in the Champions League before they relinquished their lead and ended up with a 3-3 draw.

When asked what was going through his mind, Klopp said: “I would be lying if I said I didn't think 'yeah…’.

“When you have it one time, unfortunately you need a little bit (again) to get completely rid of this feeling.

“It's not that I thought it would happen 100%. We were 2-0 up at half-time, made it 3-0 shortly after and usually that's it (clicks fingers), especially how we scored it as well.

“They had a big chance, then we make a counter-attack and score, boom. That's really hard to cope with for the other team.

“Then they make it 3-1, and while it was not really insecure, it's not that I thought it could not happen because a few weeks ago it happened.

“We needed this so we don't have that (Sevilla) in our mind completely.”
