A Scottish YouTube researcher, who uses the name Streetcap1, claims to have found several objects in NASA images of the Moon that he is convinced are artificial structures.

However, he claims the latest is so convincing, that Express.co.uk may not dare publish his video.

He said: "Here's a nice one, but the editor will probably say no. 

"Get sceptics to debunk this. I think not!"

Conspiracy theory fan Streetcap1 is not alone in believing the Moon may be inhabited by a colony of aliens, or even humans placed there under a secretive space project.

There are several other researchers online and on YouTube who put forward alleged evidence of the buildings.

However, their videos tend not to address how they would survive in the low gravity conditions, with no food, running water, or Earth-like atmosphere.

Sceptics say that far from being conclusive proof of buildings, the objects are simply too blurred to tell what they are, and could easily be rocky outcrops on the Moon.

They also question why we see no artificial lights on the Moon, if there are buildings.

Express.co.uk asked Streetcap1 to explain his theory in more detail.

We asked: "Why do you reach the conclusion that these are buildings?

"It is too blurred to tell what it is and there are a lot of those white areas over the Moon that people always seem to put forward as buildings? 

"How do you go from 'I can't make out what it is,' to 'it must be a building?'

"If they are buildings, then who or what do you think developed them? 

"Do you think the Moon is fully occupied by someone - either humans or aliens? "What about the low gravity? What would they be doing up there and eat up there?

"There doesn't seem to be any water there. 

"Wouldn't we see lights or more sign of occupation if this was going on?"

He replied: "It's slightly blurred because it's taken from Space around 60 miles high. "There have been no adjustments made and I think this looks like a building. 

"I could be wrong but it shows right angles and evidence of intelligent design. 

"I do think there are people on the moon, or have been in the past. 

"There was a revelation by NASA a few years ago of 'widespread water on the Moon.'"

He then spoke of his discussions with John Lear, a US-based conspiracy theorist, who believes the Moon is inhabited.

Streetcap1 added: "There is even a theory by John Lear that there is a breathable atmosphere up there. 

"John said to me that we have never landed there or we would have built a base by now.

"I have found loads of evidence of mining works with trails and machines digging on the lunar surface. 

"I have not made videos of these though. 

"So in answer to your question they are mining the moon for metals maybe. As for food/water I think they would have that covered."

We sent the video to Scott Brando, who runs debunking website ufoofinterest.org, to see if he could meet the challenge.

He said he was able to debunk the claims within minutes, saying it was nothing more than a sunlit rocky outcrop.

Mr Brando found the original NASA image and sent it to Express.co.uk.

It showed that what Streetcap1 claimed was a building was likely to be one of several rocky areas near to craters that were lighter in colour to the rest of the lunar surface.

There did not appear to be any sign of occupation of this part of the Moon.

Mr Brando said: "I found the raw image, and needed a few minutes to search out that rock.

"If you zoom-in and scroll the image, you will see a lot of rocks like that reflecting sunlight."
