CONOR MCGREGOR's latest attempt at trolling a former opponent backfired spectacularly.

The UFC's lightweight champion took aim at his featherweight counterpart, Max Holloway, last night by posting a picture of the Hawaiian after their UFC Fight Night 26 bout, which he won via unanimous decision, to his Twitter page.
The snap, which showed Holloway sat down in a wheelchair and sporting two black eyes, included the accompanying caption: "I miss those sunglasses."
McGregor's tweet, which came a little over twelve hours after Holloway registered an emphatic third-round TKO victory over Jose Aldo, received thousands of retweets and likes.
It didn't take too long for Holloway to get wind of McGregor's latest verbal jab at him and he responded with one of his own.
Blessed's response to McGregor included an infographic which showed his impressive stats from his 11-fight winning streak, which he extended in the main event of UFC 218.
The accompanying caption read: “Miss the sunglasses?
Retired fighters love the past
"I bet you also miss 2015 brother. Retired fighters love the past."
Talk of a rematch between the pair came up again after Holloway’s second beatdown of Aldo, which saw him register his first defence of the 145lbs title.

Twenty-six-year-old Holloway is open to rematching the last man to beat him but doesn't foresee the fight coming to fruition.
“If the Conor fight don’t happen, it’s not on my side, I’ll tell you guys like right now. It’s on their team,” Holloway said during the UFC 218 post-fight press conference.

“Their team talk about me all the time. That I’m the best guy in the world, this and that — but right now, really think about this. Conor is talking about Paulie Malignaggi... in MMA. Let that sink in.
“Paulie Malignaggi in MMA. I don’t know what to say after that.”
