Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho given huge transfer budget for three signings in January

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has been given a transfer budget of £80million for next month following a meeting with Ed Woodward - and wants three signings.

Manchester United could splash the cash next month as they aim to reel in Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

Jose Mourinho’s men had a busy summer, bringing in Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic from Benfica, Everton and Chelsea respectively.

However, the Red Devils are likely to spend big again next month with players such as Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian set to be shown the door.

And The Sun say that Mourinho has now been given a warchest of £80m following talks with club chiefs.

The 54-year-old was annoyed over the summer when he failed to sign two top Manchester United targets.

The Red Devils boss was determined to sign Tottenham’s Danny Rose and Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic, yet was unable to convince either side to cough up their star assets.

Mourinho, The Sun say, wants three signings.

The United boss wants a left-back, right winger and No10 in order to ensure his side catch City at the top.

Rose remains on the agenda, with Shaw possibly going to Tottenham in return.

The club retain an interest in Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale, while Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil is being heavily tipped to move to Old Trafford.

Matteo Darmian, along with Shaw, is set to be shown the door having failed to earn the trust of Mourinho this season.

An Old Trafford source is quoted as saying: “Jose met with some of the clubs top brass including Woodward last week and could have a pretty penny to spend.

“It sounds like some of the summer budget is being advanced into January. Jose is also looking to get rid of some players.

“Shaw and Darmian are in the firing line. There's a few key positions he wants to fill throughout the squad.”
