Arsenal news: Arsene Wenger fires shots at Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino

ARSENE WENGER has taken a pop at Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino while claiming he will not rule Arsenal out of the Premier League title race.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has taken a swipe a Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino

Arsenal suffered a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday, severely denting their hopes of winning the Premier League title.

The Gunners are now 15 points behind leaders Manchester City in fifth spot.

However, Arsene Wenger has insisted he will not give up the chase until it is mathematically impossible - unlike his rival boss Mauricio Pochettino.

The Tottenham manager seemed to rule out his side’s title hopes following last month’s 1-1 draw with West Brom and Wenger was not impressed.

Mauricio Pochettino claimed last month Tottenham's title hopes were all but over

When asked if Arsenal’s hopes of being crowned champions were over, he said: “I am not Pochettino, I am Arsene Wenger.

“I am here to fight as long as I can, as long as mathematically it’s possible you have to fight. You cannot give any other message out.

“The game today has to make us angry and even more determined.

“If I’m a player I’d think, ‘With what we have produced today we have a huge potential and to lose the game we cannot accept that’.

“That’s what you want. The players have produced a quality performance.”

Wenger’s jibe at Pochettino was made in response to comments the Spurs boss made following their 1-1 draw with West Brom last month.

The Argentine said: “Yes, it’s true now that the gap is 10 points and it’s massive in the Premier League.

“But now we need to be focused and try to improve ourselves and be more consistent at Wembley, and try to win more games here like last season at White Hart Lane.”
