Willian to Man Utd

16:45: Ray Wilkins expects Manchester United to complete another ‘big name transfer’ - but it won’t be Mesut Ozil.

Instead, he thinks that man coming in could be Willian.

Wilkins told Sporting Bet: “Mkhitaryan looked really strong at the start of the season. We were seeing Borussia Dortmund Mkhitaryan at the start but it's all gone down the pan.

“The pressure at Old Trafford is to perform week in week out and unfortunately the lad couldn't do that.

“I believe Jose could sell Mkhitaryan in January to fund the transfer of another big name to United.

"Mesut Ozil won't go to Old Trafford because he doesn't have the work ethic that Mourinho looks for in his players.

“I actually see Willian as being the likely player to head to Old Trafford. Jose is an enormous admirer of Willian and he would be a special signing for United, but I pray that Chelsea don't let him go.”

Three January signings?

15:45: Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho wants three signings.

And The Sun say he has been given a budget of £80million for next month.

The Red Devils want reinforcements in a bid to catch Manchester City at the summit.

Mesut Ozil, Danny Rose and Gareth Bale are all on their radar.

Ibrahimovic out

14.34: Jose Mourinho has revealed Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss the Champions League clash with CSKA Moscow - but is not injured.

Ibrahimovic returned to action last month following his ACL injury.

The 36-year-old has made four substitute appearances for United since his return but was left out of the squad for Saturday’s win over Arsenal and will not feature this week.

But Mourinho hinted he could be involved in the Manchester derby next Sunday.

“Zlatan needs sometimes very hard work on the muscular area that supports the knee that had the problem,” he said.

“And when the period for that hard work comes, also the fatigue comes. He was on this cycle of work, divided between the gym and the pitch.

“And he will be out again for tomorrow but I believe back to normal work after CSKA."

Fergie desperate for De Gea

14.25: Sir Alex Ferguson made a decision to sign David de Gea after watching just 65 minutes of the goalkeeper in action.

“I joined United in 2008 and, from that moment, we needed to be ready for the day Edwin van der Sar retired,” former coach Eric Steele told the Daily Mail.

“I was convinced that a 19-year-old De Gea was the right man to replaced him. I showed a three-minute DVD compilation to Sir Alex and then we went to watch him play for Atletico Madrid at Valencia on the night United played Scunthorpe in the League Cup.

“Sir Alex knew he was the right signing within 65 minutes.”

United sign youngster

12.25: Manchester United have signed France Under-17 international Aliou Traore.

The former PSG youngster joins the United youth academy and made his debut on Saturday.

“Traore is a boy we’ve been looking at for a while,” declared Under-18s coach Kieran McKenna, speaking to MUTV.

“He is a really powerful midfielder who likes to run box to box. He is very strong technically and is improving all the time.

“He’s a nice man and his English is improving. He’s settling in well with the boys and has taken to the club really well.”

Goretzka on future

11.15: Manchester United transfer target Leon Goretzka has admitted he is in the “final phase” of deciding his future.

Express Sport understands United are at the front of the queue and will make an approach for the Germany international in January.

And he has since broken his silence, revealing he is in the “final phase” of deciding his future.

“I have to find out for myself what the next step should be. I have to consider a million things,” he said.

“I am a person who is very meticulous in such decisions. I play through all the scenarios. So I need time.

“There doesn’t exist a deadline but I think we are in the final phase. The final decision will be made in January.”

Herrera on form

10.45: Ander Herrera thinks Manchester United are peaking at the right time.

United beat Arsenal on Saturday to keep the pressure on Manchester City ahead of next week’s derby.

City lead the league by eight points but United can send out a message if they beat them and Herrera thinks they’re in form.

"We are going to find our best moment very soon," Herrera told the club's official website. "We are second and chasing to be top of the table.

"It was a fantastic result (at Arsenal) with some great performances. David (de Gea) was amazing, and we were clinical in the first half, with two chances in the first 15 minutes and two goals.

"Jesse is on fire now, Paul (Pogba) as well, it's a pity he got a red card. Romelu (Lukaku) didn't score but he helped us a lot. The centre-backs - Victor (Lindelof) is in fantastic form right now. So we are optimistic of course."

Pogba ban

09.50: Jesse Lingard insists Manchester United can handle Paul Pogba’s absence.

Pogba will miss the Manchester derby after getting sent off against Arsenal.

The midfielder could even be hit with a longer ban after sarcastically clapping as he walked off.

And Lingard said, “It’s a blow but the team have the players to adapt to that. Everyone’s got to work hard to get in the starting XI.”

Pogba ban

08.00: Paul Pogba faces the prospect of receiving a longer ban after he sarcastically clapped the decision to send him off against Arsenal.

Pogba will pick up a three match ban for violent conduct for the challenge on Hector Bellerin.

He will miss games against Manchester City Bournemouth and West Brom but may even miss more depending on the report Andre Marriner files today.

Bale price

07.30: Manchester United value Gareth Bale at £50-60m and will end their interest in  the Wales star unless Real Madrid lower their price tag.

Bale is on Mourinho’s radar for next summer but Madrid want to recoup what they spent on him as they try and bankroll a deal for Neymar.

Madrid are asking for £100m but United, according to the Mirror, want the La Liga side to almost half that figure.

Rose breakthrough

07.15: Manchester United have been told to pay £45m for Danny Rose.

The Tottenham left-back has been linked with a move to Old Trafford ever since his explosive interview in the summer.

He claimed he wanted to move back up north and has appeared at odds with manager Mauricio Pochettino.

He has played just two Premier League games since returning from injury and admitted he was fuming when left out of the squad for the north London derby.

And the Star on Sunday claimed United have found a breakthrough with Poch ready to sanction a sale for £45m.
